Even though its name is Tybee Island, one islander said if you really want to sound like a local just say "Tybee".

  Tybee is 2.7 square miles. You won't get lost.

If you're used to Alabama or Florida Panhandle beaches, Tybee Island will be a surprise.

No high-rise condo buildings. No restaurant chains (except Arby's and Subway). No Walmart. Not even a CVS.

Tybee Island has escaped development in a way that's generally unheard of on a pretty US coastline!
